In the daily operation of heavy-duty escalators, passenger safety is always the primary consideration. In order to ensure the stability and safety of passengers during the ride, the synchronous operation of the handrail and the steps is essential. However, due to various factors, such as drive system failure, handrail tensioning device failure or wear caused by long-term use, the handrail and the steps may be out of sync. In order to deal with this potential safety hazard, heavy-duty escalators are equipped with advanced handrail synchronization monitoring systems.

The handrail synchronization monitoring system is an important part of the safety protection mechanism of heavy-duty escalators. Its core function is to monitor the movement state between the handrail and the steps in real time to ensure that the two run synchronously. This system is usually composed of high-precision sensors, signal processing units and control actuators, and through sophisticated algorithms and fast response mechanisms, it can achieve precise control of the synchronization of handrails and steps.

High-precision sensors are the "eyes" of the handrail synchronization monitoring system. These sensors are usually installed near key parts of the escalator, such as the handrail drive wheel, step drive chain or comb plate, to monitor the movement speed, position and relative displacement of the handrail and steps in real time. The sensors use non-contact measurement technology, such as photoelectric, magnetic induction or laser ranging, to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the measurement. By continuously collecting data, the sensor provides the system with detailed movement status information, which provides a basis for subsequent synchronization judgment.

The signal processing unit is the "brain" of the handrail synchronization monitoring system. It receives the raw data from the sensor and processes and analyzes it through complex algorithms to determine the synchronization between the handrail and the steps. These algorithms usually include speed comparison, position deviation calculation, trend prediction, etc., which can accurately identify the slight difference between the handrail and the steps. Once the asynchrony is detected, the signal processing unit will immediately trigger the early warning mechanism and issue an alarm to the operator.

The early warning mechanism is an important part of the handrail synchronization monitoring system. When the signal processing unit detects that there is asynchrony between the handrail and the steps, the system will immediately issue an alarm to the operator through sound and light alarms, display prompts or remote communication. The alarm information usually includes the degree of asynchrony, the location of occurrence and possible causes, so that the operator can quickly locate the problem and take appropriate measures. This mechanism ensures that the problem can be discovered and handled in the first place, effectively preventing passengers from falling or being injured due to asynchrony.

In some serious cases, such as when the degree of asynchrony between the handrail and the steps reaches or exceeds the preset safety threshold, the handrail synchronization monitoring system will automatically cut off the power supply of the escalator and stop the escalator. This measure is the last line of defense to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of passengers in extreme situations. The function of automatic power cut-off is usually achieved by controlling actuators, such as relays, circuit breakers or solenoid valves, which will quickly cut off the power supply and stop the escalator after receiving instructions from the signal processing unit.

The handrail synchronization monitoring system has many advantages, such as high accuracy, real-time performance, reliability and easy maintenance. These advantages make the system widely used in heavy-duty escalators. In actual operation, the handrail synchronization monitoring system not only improves the safety of escalators, but also reduces the maintenance costs and downtime caused by asynchrony. Operators can quickly locate problems and take corresponding measures through the system's alarm information and data analysis, thereby ensuring the stable operation of the escalator and the safety of passengers.
